Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has described the Igala people as courageous, loyal and appreciative of whatever good done for them.
Governor Bello made the assertion on Tuesday when he played host to stakeholders of Igala extraction who paid him a congratulatory and thank you visit for emerging the flag bearer of the ruling APC in the November governorship election and for appointing their worthy son, Edward Onoja as his running mate.
He made example of his relationship with his Chief of Staff, Hon Edward Onoja with whom he said they have come a long way from their time together in Benue State and know each others’ capacity, hence the trust they shared which no one can interfere in.
He said government was about the people coming together to build each other to impact the citizens positively in order to forge a better collective front for the general progress of the society.
“My current Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja has been part of my tact team right from Makurdi from where he and I have had a mutually beneficial relationship and we have continued to build on that.’
He said the choice of Hon Onoja as his Chief of Staff and then a running mate has made his job easy for the second term ambition.
To him, the people of Kogi whether Ebira, Igala, Okun or of any ethnoreligious background belong to the same root of Kwararafa kingdom, hence the need to see ourselves as one and for people to continue to rally round persons in leadership positiond so as to encourage them to do more for the state.
“The Igala people are not who some people describe them to be. They are people of courage, loyalty and dedication and appreciation.” The governor said.
