Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has flagged off the distribution of educational instructional materials to pupils across the twenty-one Local Government Area of the State in a bid to enhance their academic performances.
The State Governor through the Ministry of Local Government Administration and Chieftaincy Affairs also distributed sixty-six (66) modern laptop computers to already trained Local Government Staffs across the LGAs
The Flag off ceremony and the distribution took place on Thursday at the premises of the Ministry of LGA and Chieftaincy Affairs, Lokoja.
Speaking during the Flag off, the Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government Administration and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engineer Abubakar Ohere noted that at the inception of the New Direction Government, emergency was declared on productivity and in the education sector.
The Governor pointed out that such was the reason both areas, Education and Civil Service reform were reflected in the New Direction Thematic blueprint.
He mentioned that these distributions had been on going and the Flag off of another phase would complement the efforts which has been made so far.
Governor Bello explained that the distribution of these instructional materials was quiet symbolic to his Government’s effort to reverberate the education sector and ensure that pupils were given all that they required for excellent performance.
He also extended that the distribution of laptops was also important to boast the capacity and productivity of the work force in the state particularly those at the Local Government level of administration
The Governor further revealed that both the distribution of educational materials to school children and laptops to staff of the LGAs were executed free of charge.
He affirmed that these efforts specifically the distribution of educational materials would help the children know better which was an assurance of a better future for the State.
Speaking on behalf of other Local Government Administrators, Kabba Bunnu Administrator Honourable Moses Olorunleke thanked the Governor for investing in the future of the State.
He noted that such kind gestures would go a long way to help guide the learning of these school children at the foundational level.
Honourable Olorunleke also thanked the Commisioner of the Ministry for doing such great work which he said was having direct impact of the lives of Kogi citizenry.
He on behalf of his colleagues assured of ensuring the judicious use of the educational materials for the school children as well as the laptops for the Local Government staffs.
The Administrator similarly affirmed that the victory of the Governor at the November 16, gubernatorial election was signed, sealed and soon to be delivered.
